In addition to meeting fast-growing demand from an expanding number of mass retail outlets, liberalized trade regimes are opening the gates to a new world of
high-spending consumers. The establishment of the
EU-Egypt Free Trade Area alone has already seen agricultural exports rise by 80%, with the proposed Euro-Med Free Trade Area targeted for 2010 set to further bolster Egyptian access to the EU’s 500 million consumers.
At the same time, Egypt’s competitive prices continue to
drive strong North American demand for products like
Egyptian-produced fruits and nuts, seafood, cheeses,
confectioner’s chocolate and specialty flours.
Egypt’s very low customs duties and central geographic
location also mean local producers, food processors and
packagers are ideally positioned to take advantage of strong growth throughout Middle Eastern markets, and the forecast exponential growth in the established and emerging markets of Asia and Asia Pacific. |
